Sophia at two-and-a-half years old

Thursday, August 2, 2012

(Note: This post was written in August.  I put it in draft in case I was forgetting anything...then forgot to update it.  So, it's a little outdated but accurate at the time)

2.5 years... 30 months...130 weeks of Sophia...oh my goodness.
I cannot believe we are on the downward slope towards three years old.  It goes way to fast.  Just as with every phase of her life to this point... this might be my favorite age!

SOPHIA - -
Is now and always has been the sweetest, most content, loving, considerate, generous, caring, funniest little girl in the history of little girls.

Talks and talks and talks.  Some of our favorite Sophia-isms include but are not limited to:
  • Whoa! It's HEABY! (Heavy)
  • I want...(it, papas, the beach, swimming, grandma's house, eat, pickles, a snack, etc)
  • I don't want...  Both of which she crosses her arms across her chest, tilts her head down, and stares up at you through the tops of her eyes.
  • Um...Mommy?
  • Daaaah-deeeee!
  • My tummy is HUNGRY!
  • Red is STOP!  Green is GO GO GO! Yeh-yo (yellow) is swow-down!
  • My turn my turn!
  • Awwww....Chuck is cute! Followed by NO CHUCK! GET DOWN!
  • Wuv you!
  • It's dark in here!
  • Aaaaaapril!!

Other facts:
  • She still says woowoowoowoo I see it! when she goes potty and is still doing such a great job with the whole thing.  Rarely an accident.
  • Still wears diapers at night but not for naps.
  • She knows her colors, shapes (even the hard ones), numbers to 20, the alphabet (although she won't do it when asked, only when she feels like it).
  • Loves to watch her shows in our bedroom, under the covers.
  • Love, love, loves her Kicket (blanket) and loves to fight for it "Myyyy kicket! No myyyyyy kicket!"
  • Randomly talks about cousin Ashton and baby Annabelle, their whereabouts, and what they're wearing.
  • Is a seriously amazing swimmer.  We've already moved from a  Puddle Jumper floaty to regular arm floaties that are less restrictive.
  • Eats anything and everything but especially loves bright and colorful foods so that we can eat it color by color.
  • Weights 27.5 lbs
  • Wears  size 2T shirts but still only 18-24 month shorts and skirts.  It's not pants weather yet but we'll have an interesting time finding clothes that fit her long legs and tiny waist.
  • Wears size 6 shoes.
  • Still has a round baby-belly.
  • Has beautiful long hair that curls ever so slightly when it's humid.

Favorite things:
  • Skyping with Papa
  • Things in nature (trees, rocks, bugs, birds, etc.) She loves to name them and talk about their characteristics.
  • Princesses, princesses, princesses
  • The Princess and the Frog
  • Dora
  • Diego
  • Zoomies!
  • Playing with her baby and taking care of her.
  • Playing kitchen
  • Loves to watch her shows in our bedroom, under the covers.
  • Love to pretend to be asleep then have us wake her up or vice versa.
  • Loves to paint.
  • Loves to help mommy bake.
  • Loves to sing.
  • Loves to dance.
  • Loves to swim.
  • Loves school.
  • Loves her back pack.
  • Loves to laugh.
  • Likes her alone time and doesn't need constant attention, in fact, she prefers to be independent from time to time.
She is the greatest joy we could ever imagine!

Summer Week 4 - Happy Birthday Daddy!

(June 18-23, 2012)
This week was all about Ken.  Father's day was Sunday and Sophia made him a very cool painting.
His birthday was a couple of days later and he requested some spiced cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.  Sophia was VERY helpful.

I think she's saying "Cheese!"
She counted as she placed all of the cups into the pan. And she poured all of the measured ingredients into the bowl for me to mix.
While we waited for them to back, I mixed together some flour, water, sprinkles, and food coloring for her to play with.

Then we filled the cupcakes with pudding and she liked the beater...the best part of course.

 Quite the decorator I'd say.

We also decided to have a bbq this weekend since I wasn't sure if/when I'd be here the rest of the summer.  I invited several friends with little ones so we turned it into a kid-friendly affair with plenty of activities for the kiddos.  Including : Sophia's old baby-pool with colored ice-cubes, water-table with beans and other sensory items (NOTE: Do NOT play with beans in the grass!  Obviously they made their way off the table and into the grass and we have had hundreds, yes HUNDREDS, of bean spouts growing ever since!  Oops, my bad), Oobleck (See here for recipe), sprinkler ball, ball pit, sidewalk chalk, and finger painting.

The wash-station with sudsy water may have been the favorite, despite my other efforts.
 Oobleck fun!

We had a great time with all the kiddos and adults alike.  I think we'll make it an annual affair :)
