I spy... a sippy!

When we were expecting Sophia I used aboutmybaby.com to journal all of our thoughts, feelings, and experiences about the pregnancy.  I kept up with it pretty well until shortly after she was born when they started having technical difficulties.  Since then I have been so bad about documenting all of the million amazing things she does.  I frequently tell my self "I have to remember this!" and while I obviously remember it all, I get fuzzy on the details (date, circumstances, etc.)  So...I have decided to start journaling our adventures again via blogging.  I'm not so arrogant as to think you all actually care what I have to say (hehe) but I need to keep track of all the crazy-ness that happens in the Elflein house everyday.

About Me:
I'm still teaching high school math in Hatch.  This year I have taken on a new challenge as the school's SAT Coordinator.  SAT is basically a team of teachers, administrators, nurses, and school counselors that get together to discuss potential interventions that might help students that have been identified as being "high risk" for attendance, behavior, grades, etc.  In previous years I have been basically doing this anyway on my own for students that I notice are having "issues", this year I'm getting paid to do it...always nice :)

About Ken:
Still with Altria (formerly Philip Morris) although his district has changed and he now reports to Phoenix.  However, his true passion is working in our yard.  He is soooo incredible!  He's constantly trying to make improvements so that our yard is a place that we can enjoy for years.  This year he "finished" the basic landscaping.  All that remains is the play area for Sophia - which will be completed next spring - and the pool.  Hopefully the pool will be in within a few years but we are not in any rush.

About Sophia:
Where to begin?!

Sophia is...
  • 18 months old
  • About 25 lbs
  • Running, jumping, and climbing
  • Growing her vocabulary with new words everyday
  • A DANCER!!
  • In love with Chuck
  • A girl with an appetite - She'll eat pretty much anything, however, she prefers fresh fruits and veggies and grilled chicken and fish.  She could eat blueberries by the pound and if she even sees a picture of a banana she'll "Nana" us to death until she gets one.
  • Having a GREAT time at the HVHS Daycare.  She goes to daycare at my school 3 days a week...which is FREAKING AWESOME!!  I get to have lunch with her and having her so close makes it much easier to be a working Mommy.
  • Playing a constant game of sippy hide-and-seek with Mommy and Daddy (aka Didi).  We have found sippies inside of decorative chimineas, on window sills, and just this morning inside the trash can, under the trash bag.  Ken took out the trash and found it sitting there waiting to be found.

So that's us in a nutshell.  Follow along if you'd like.  I promise, there is never a dull moment around here :)

And here is our girl...
