When I found out I was pregnant, I truly knew I was having a girl. I did have some boy nursery ideas, but they were nothing in comparison to what I wanted to do for my girl. When the U/S tech confirmed my suspicions "Guys, you're having a girl!", my first thought was her name and my second was the room. We right away started working on the room. It took us FOREVER to get it all done since we did it all ourselves and had never done a DIY project like this. Grandma Camille bought Sophia the furniture. We ordered in late October and were told that the crib was on back order for a few weeks. Those weeks turned into months and we had just put it together right before she was born in February. I LOVED her crib soooo much! It was absolutely perfect for her room. Ken and I would go into her little room and just look around at our work every night before she arrived. We felt so proud to have given our baby a beautiful room that she will be able to grow with and still enjoy.
The theme of the room is Paris in the Springtime - incorporating Paris, fashion, and flowers:)
We put up the wainscoating and chair rail and painted the walls.
Dresses, purses, and shoes.
My mom hand-painted the flowers around the room.

Last weekend, we put our girl down for a nap. She wasn't falling asleep so we left her in her bed to play and whine a little. All of a sudden, she started crying like crazy! Ken ran in and there she was...on the floor...walking toward the door...crying and rubbing her head. She climbed out and fell! So we made the executive decision that it's time to convert her crib into her big girl bed. At that moment, a hundred memories of her in her crib ran through my mind.
And so, we gave her one last night to sleep in her crib and took this video the next morning.
Soph and I were in Albuquerque for the week and while we were gone, Daddy converted the bed.
This whole time I thought I bought the 4-in-1 convertible crib that went from crib to toddler bed with rail to daybed to full-sized bed. Unfortunately we found out that hers is only 3-in-1 and it skips the rail stage. I think I could have bought a rail to add on but really, she is such a weird sleeper that I don't think the little rail would have done anything. It looks a lot higher than it really is. We decided that if she falls out of the daybed a time or two, the potential harm it could do is much less than if she were to fall out of her crib again.
She slept all through the night, we didn't hear a sound. The next morning we went into her room and found this...
So...either she got out of bed this morning, OR she fell out over night, didn't even wake up, and continued to sleep on the pillows I laid out on the floor. Either way, she seems to dig her bed :)
I really can't believe that we no longer have a crib in our house. Our baby is a baby no more. Actually, who am I kidding? She'll ALWAYS be our baby:)
